POISON: "He Thought It Was a Romance. It Was a Robbery!"

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Award-winning director Bayer Mack (The Czar of Black Hollywood, No Lye: An American Beauty Story ) has released the official trailer for Poison, a gritty urban thriller that began as a short-form digital series and is now being developed into a multi-season narrative project.

Originally launched as a six-episode series across YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, Poison quickly established a distinct voice through its cinematic visual style, character-driven storytelling, and sharp tonal contrast between romance and deception. The project blends elements of crime, drama, humor and psychological tension, positioning itself within a growing market for premium digital-first content.

At its core, Poison follows D. Negro, a man drawn into a seemingly perfect romantic encounter that reveals itself to be a calculated setup. What begins as seduction quickly escalates into theft, consequence, and a chain of events that spiral into danger. The story expands beyond a single incident, introducing interconnected characters and layered conflicts that drive a larger narrative arc.

The newly released trailer highlights the project’s tonal duality—balancing tension, dark humor, and urban realism—while introducing a broader narrative scope that extends beyond its initial episodic format.

Mack, whose background spans journalism and documentary filmmaking, developed Poison as an independent production under the NEGRO DIGEST banner. The project reflects a growing trend of creator-led, digitally native storytelling evolving into long-form intellectual property.

Following the release of its initial episodes, Poison is now being positioned as a four-season story arc, with development focused on expanding its world, characters, and central conflicts. Future installments will explore intersecting criminal networks, shifting alliances, and a high-value diamond storyline that raises the stakes beyond the series’ original premise.

“The goal was to create something that feels immediate and cinematic, but also scalable,” Mack said. “We started with a contained story, but the response and the world itself made it clear there was more to explore.”

The trailer serves as both a proof of concept and a signal of the project’s next phase, as Mack seeks development funding and strategic partnerships to support continued production and distribution.

Poison is currently available on YouTube, with additional content and updates rolling out across social platforms.
