Brunson's 30 points and fourth-quarter takeover powered Knick's comeback from 14 down.
SAN ANTONIO, TX -- New York Knicks stole home-court advantage Wednesday night, rallying from a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 105–95 in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals. The victory extended New York's playoff winning streak to 12 games and gave the Knicks a 1–0 series lead.
Brunson Takes Over
The story of the night was Jalen Brunson. After a slow start, Brunson delivered when it mattered most, finishing with 30 points and scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter. With the game hanging in the balance, he buried a go-ahead three-pointer and followed it with a clutch pull-up jumper in the final two minutes to put New York in control.
Supporting Cast
Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Josh Hart impacted the game everywhere despite scoring only three points, grabbing 15 rebounds and recording four steals.
Spurs Fade Late
Victor Wembanyama posted 26 points and 12 rebounds, but struggled with efficiency and committed key mistakes during a disastrous fourth quarter for San Antonio. The Spurs shot poorly down the stretch and were out-executed by the Knicks in crunch time.
