Alleged NFL Scam Artist Found Dead

MULLICA HILL, NJ -- Mohamed Coulibaly, the 24-year-old Philadelphia entrepreneur accused of operating an e-commerce investment scheme targeting professional athletes, was found dead Friday evening in a swimming pool at a home in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. Police discovered Coulibaly while conducting a welfare check requested by a concerned family member, and authorities are investigating his death.
A recent Barron’s investigation reported that three former NFL players claimed to have lost more than $1 million after investing in Shopify-based online stores promoted by Coulibaly.
The stores allegedly displayed manually entered orders that created the appearance of strong sales despite limited customer traffic. Coulibaly denied intentionally defrauding investors and maintained that delayed returns resulted from a failed acquisition agreement.
Coulibaly imigrated to the U.S. from Mali as a child. His family has launched a fundraiser to transport his remains internationally following his sudden death.
