Art of Black Men: New Exhibit by 5x5 Baltimore

New exhibit will showcase the work of nine contemporary Black male artists.


BALTIMORE, MD -- The Eubie Blake Cultural Center will spotlight the work of nine contemporary Black male artists during 5×5 Baltimore: The Art of Black Men, a special exhibition opening with a public dialogue on Saturday, August 1, at 4 p.m.


The exhibition features works by Ainsley Burrows, Al Johnson, Anthony Smith Jr., Charles Stonewall, Ernest Shaw, Femi J. Johnson, Jeffrey Kent, Jerry Prettyman, Larry Poncho Brown, and Rigo Peralta, showcasing a wide range of styles from portraiture and abstraction to mixed media and social commentary.



Held at the cultural center's gallery at 847 N. Howard St. in Baltimore, the event aims to explore Black identity, creativity, and lived experience through visual art while fostering community conversation. The exhibition is supported by several arts organizations and foundations committed to preserving and promoting African American artistic expression.
