3-Way: Kandie Burruss' Ex Says They Had Open Marriage

ATLANTA, GA —Todd Tucker, 53, is revealing intimate details about his failed marriage to former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss, 50, claiming the couple regularly invited other people into their bedroom.
In a trailer for Tucker’s upcoming project ’Til Divorce Do Us Part, former RHOA husband Peter Thomas, 65, asks Tucker directly whether the threesome stories surrounding his marriage were true. “We did,” Tucker responds, adding that it happened during “most” of their marriage.
Burruss and Tucker met while filming RHOA in 2011 and married in April 2014. After 11 years of marriage, Burruss filed for divorce in November 2025, saying she wanted to protect her peace and concentrate on her family. Their divorce was settled in March 2026. They share two children, Ace, 10, and Blaze, 6.
Burruss has acknowledged that the couple occasionally participated in threesomes, but Tucker’s characterization that it occurred through “most” of their marriage apparently crossed a line. She accused her former husband of “sensationalizing our sex life” for publicity and said his decision to reveal private marital details reinforced her belief that divorcing him was the right decision.
The revelation inevitably raises questions about whether opening a marriage can destabilize an already complicated relationship. But Tucker and Burruss cannot fairly be used as proof that open marriages “never work.” A 2026 meta-analysis covering 35 studies and 24,489 people found no significant difference in relationship or sexual satisfaction between monogamous and consensually non-monogamous relationships.
What research does suggest is that non-monogamy can demand unusually strong communication, clear boundaries and mutual enthusiasm—and may magnify existing jealousy, neglect or relationship problems. In the case of Kandi and Todd, their unconventional sex life lasted for years, but ultimately their marriage did not.

They remained married until Davis' death in 2005.
Mo’Nique & Sidney Hicks — Confirmed open marriage. Mo’Nique has publicly said the open arrangement was originally her idea. She and Hicks have described honesty as more important to their marriage than conventional sexual exclusivity.
Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith — Confirmed period of non-monogamy. Will acknowledged that they did not always practice monogamy and said they gave each other “trust and freedom.” Their situation is complicated by Jada's later revelation that they had been living separately since 2016, so describing their entire marriage simply as “open” would be misleading.
Kandi Burruss & Todd Tucker — Confirmed threesomes. Tucker now says they participated in threesomes during “most” of their 11-year marriage. Burruss has previously acknowledged bringing other people into their bedroom, although she objected to Tucker publicly revealing details of their sex life. Their divorce was finalized in 2026.
T-Pain & Amber Najm — Confirmed threesomes, not necessarily an open marriage. T-Pain has publicly discussed sexual experiences involving other women and his wife, but he has resisted characterizing their relationship as simply an unrestricted open marriage.
